I know what this is like.

I know what it means to feel half alive. I know what it’s like to feel like the world is small and that your body isn’t taking you where you want to go. I know what it’s like to have the sense that there is more for you but to feel the body and the heart and the mind and the entire world is set up to keep you small, to keep you safe, to keep you domesticated.

But you're not really domesticated, are you?

Your feet were born unshod, the better to feel the shape of wild earth.

I just finished my five months of Restore Your Wild. It was a very deep and transformative five months. As usual, Jen addresses both body and mind in this course. Some of the body work is crazy intense. I would say a higher level than your regular Restorative Exercise bolster angels and calf stretches. The mind work is equally advanced. You get to look at many aspects of your whole life including your community, creativity, work, etc. and assess to see where you can bring in more wildness. The exercises such as "getting dirty" are very eye opening on where and how we resist the wildness/change. Thanks to Jen and RYW, I let go of a lot of bullshit beliefs, released guilt and shame, and faced many fears. I got stronger physically and mentally. Fear and shame do not rule my life anymore and that is what makes me more WILD. Jen can help anyone become more wild in whatever ways wild means to you.

Just being in Jennifer's presence and hearing her speak about natural movement, I'm in awe of her knowledge and ability to get me to see regular movement in a completely new way. I go off the beaten track almost daily now, I run slog the sand with my toddler with a new purpose, I find trees to climb and do it with the intent of waking up dormant parts of my body... Just knowing the biomechanics makes me want to do it, but the spiritual connectedness is one of the best effects.

Jen's work has been a huge "game changer" for me. She has created a safe, non-judgmental, encouraging space - a space that gently invites her students to explore not only nutritiously moving our bodies but to explore our hearts at the same time and to learn to be integrated head to heart to toe, insides and outsides. She's given me hope and focus and gentleness and love along with enthusiasm and cheerfulness and joy. The world needs your wild

Restoring your wild isn't a selfish act. Do it for yourself, sure. But if that idea leaves you in a heap of a mess of guilt, then allow yourself to do it for someone else.

Do it for your kids who need a real example.

Do it for your partner who needs wildness, too.

Do it for the child in you, who misses the sensation of earth on bare feet.

Do it for your friends who are feeling small and scared.

Heck, do it for me.


I've been intentionally restoring my wild for over a decade. I wouldn't have called it that when I first started. I would have said I was sorting through things. Healing the past. Figuring out what was wrong with me. Trying to fix the parts of me that were broken.

And for a time that's what it looked like.  It looked like fixing. It looked like fixing a body broken by a traumatic cesarean section. It looked like fixing a body broken by a sedentary culture. It looked like fixing a heart broken in childhood by sexual trauma and a stressful family life. It looked like fixing a mind limited by erroneous beliefs about what is possible.

At some point, the tide started to shift. Fixing is still part of the paradigm, but it's a piece of something bigger. It folds into the experience of expanding. Of growing. Of accepting. Of listening to the wild call inside about what I want and need and moving into that.

My own wild restoration has included various forms of somatic psychotherapy, movement education, hands-on bodywork, trauma-sensitive yoga, breath work and a lot of reading and exploring and waiting and crying and dancing and meditating. It's definitely been rooted in a whole lot of time outside.

It also led me to advanced training with Nutritious Movement, as well as training in Restorative Breathing. I bring into that 15 years worth of life coaching.

In essence, I've given my all to restoring my own wild and in supporting others to do the same. It's been the most profound journey.
